湖南师范大学（湖南师大，Hunan Normal University），创建于1938年，坐落于湖南省长沙市，是教育部与湖南省重点共建的综合性师范大学。湖南师范大学位列国家国家“211工程”“双一流”建设高校。该大学入选“中西部高校基础能力建设工程”“卓越教育培养计划”“国家大学生创新性实验计划”“国家建设高水平大学公派研究生项目”，是全国深化创新创业教育改革示范高校、中国政府奖学金来华留学生接收院校、教育部来华留学示范基地、国家大学生文化素质教育基地，同时也是全国绿化“400佳”单位之一，是国际艺术、设计与媒体院校联盟（Cumulus）、“一带一路”智库合作联盟等国际组织重要成员。
该校前身为国立师范学院，新中国成立之初，国立师范学院并入湖南大学，1981年11月，学院获得硕士学位授予权，1984年9月，学院正式更名湖南师范大学并沿用至今。

Hunan Normal University (Hunan Normal University), founded in 1938, is a comprehensive Normal University jointly built by the Ministry of Education and Hunan Province. It is located in Changsha, Hunan Province. Hunan Normal University (HNU) is one of the national "Project 211" and "Double First-Class" universities. The university has been selected into the "Basic Ability Construction Project for Colleges and Universities in Central and Western China", "Excellent Education Cultivation Plan", "National Innovative Experiment Plan for College Students" and "State-sponsored Postgraduate Program for National Construction of High-level Universities". It is a national demonstration university for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, a receiving institution of Chinese government scholarship for overseas students, a demonstration base for overseas study in China by the Ministry of Education, and a national cultural quality education base for college students. It is also one of the "top 400" green units in China. It is also an important member of international organizations such as Cumulus, One Belt And One Road Think Tank Cooperative Alliance and so on.
At the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the National Normal College was merged into Hunan University. In November 1981, the college was granted the right to confer master's degrees. In September 1984, the college officially changed its name to Hunan Normal University and is still in use today.
